BandBox and student information
BandBox is used by band staff to track school-owned instruments and uniforms. Students don't have accounts and never use the app.
The only student information in BandBox is a name typed by a director into an item's "signed out to" field, retained in that item's history. Nothing else about a student is collected — no contact details, no date of birth, no academic records, no photographs. Directors can use partial names or locker numbers instead, and we recommend it.
That information is visible only to members of the same band, is stored in a database that enforces band membership on every row, is transmitted over HTTPS, is never used for advertising or analysis, and is never sold or disclosed to third parties other than the hosting provider that runs the database (Supabase) and, where legally required, valid legal process. It's deleted when the director deletes their account or the item.
There is no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party analytics code in the app.
District agreements
If your district needs a data-privacy agreement, a signed questionnaire, or a specific hosting region before staff can use BandBox, write to julianmcg08@gmail.com and we'll work through it.
